Corynebacterium efficiens is a small, generally nonmotile, Gram-positive, non-sporulating pleomorphic bacillus that enjoys widespread distribution. Corynebacteria are chemoorganotroph and aerobic, or facultatively anaerobic, exhibiting a fermentative metabolism (carbohydrates to lactic acid) under certain conditions.
