Bartonella henselae is a fastidious, Gram-negative bacterial pathogen of cats and humans. Bartonella sp. are transmitted by insect vectors, using mammalian reservoirs, infecting similar cell types (Endothelial cells and Erythrocytes) and causing vasculoproliferative changes in immunocompromised hosts.
