Description:

In mammals, the circadian system is comprised of three major components: the lateral eyes, the hypothalamic SCN (Suprachiasmatic Nucleus) and the pineal gland. The SCN harbours the endogenous oscillator that is entrained everyday to the ambient lighting conditions via retinal input.
