p21-activated kinase (PAK) family of serine/threonine protein kinases are downstream effectors of the Rho family of GTPases (Rac and Cdc42). PAKs are found in most eukaryotes and play an evolutionarily conserved role in many cellular processes like cell proliferation, survival, gene transcription, transformation, and cytoskeletal remodeling (Ref.1).
